data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>La Fuente del Esparto is a useful enclave as a reference to follow various routes. The distance from the national highway is 6 km.<\/p>\n<p>From the N-340 we take the detour towards the Cueva de Nerja. About 500 m away and just at the entrance to the car park, we will continue along the lane that begins on our left next to a small pine forest.<br \/>\nThe path climbs through scrubland and young repopulated pine trees to the right of the Coladilla de los Cazadores Ravine, an area that is recovering from the latest fires.<\/p>\n<p>Less than 2 km after the La Civila fork and after passing through the old landfill, we arrive at a recreational area known as El Pinarillo, which has drinking water and barbecues. Leaving this area on our left and continuing along the lane we arrive at the Fuente del Esparto.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-ec03681 elementor-invisible\" data-id=\"ec03681\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;,&quot;animation&quot;:&quot;fadeInUp&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5f69788 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5f69788\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This owes its name to the abundance of this vegetable in the area, which was collected for use in local crafts as raw material in the manufacture of ropes, baskets, espadrilles, etc. The drinking water that we can find there, by the way, led to the construction of a mineral wash during the mining exploitation period in the mountains. The distance from the N-340 is 6 km.<\/p>\n<p>A good alternative is to explore the bottom of the Coladilla Ravine on foot. It is accessed by coming from the N-340 to the old San Joaquin Factory between the greenhouses and taking a lane that leaves behind it. Nearby we can see the \u00c1guila Aqueduct built to bring water to this old sugar factory. This lane runs with the ravine on the right and passes next to an old quarry, later used for clay pigeon shooting. The lane leads to the heart of the ravine where we can leave the vehicle and continue along it between high walls. Due to its limestone nature there are numerous cracks and small caves. Some of them, those located in the lower parts, have been used to enclose goats, as shelter or even as housing.<\/p>\n<p>The gorge narrows and becomes a path that continues through a gravel field (popularly known as Chorrera), making twists and gaining height. It levels out at about 1,000 m altitude and, leveling out, you reach the river bed again where the ravine seems to end in a wall that blocks it. To overcome this obstacle, the path suddenly gains height again, sinuously climbing the side wall of the gorge. After that and surrounding the projection that prevented us from continuing along the channel, it descends to it, arriving at the entrance of the first mines on our route, which are the Mina del Uno and La Furia.<\/p>\n<p>It will be necessary not to abandon the established paths since the ventilation shafts of the galleries remain open and half-hidden by the vegetation without any type of signs.<\/p>\n<p>From the mines we continue along the bottom of the ravine until we find a fork. At this point we have to detour along the ravine that starts on our left, thus abandoning the De Cazadores (which continues on the right) and which would take us towards Loma de la Encina. Continuing along this ravine and about 300 m higher, a new fork appears where we now have to continue to the right.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ascending this ravine we find a series of steps two to three meters high and which will not be very difficult to overcome. The slope increases progressively until reaching a point where the ravine closes and we cannot continue down it.<\/p>\n<p>From here we go up a very steep path that starts on our right between holm oaks. We passed through some caves called Los Ca\u00f1os del Rey, inside which stagnant water is preserved almost all year round. When we crown this climb we find a hill called Ranchillo del Viento where it is worth resting and contemplating the landscape, since from here the panoramic view of the surroundings of the Barranco de Cazadores is extraordinary. Furthermore, we can already see the summit of Navachica, the entire Almendr\u00f3n range and to our right an extensive forest of adult black pine mixed with holm oak that appears to our eyes as a large oasis completely surrounded by rocky mountain ranges. This is the Pinar de Lomas Llanas.<\/p>\n<p>To reach Navachica from here, just follow up the hill towards the summit. There are practically no paths to be seen, but due to the absence of bushes we did not find any difficulty in getting there. On this route the slope is gentle again. Climbing to this summit will have made us travel about 18 km on foot and we have the same number left to descend. In the first, up to Los Cortijos de la Civila, the climb is comfortable and can be done by car, although the difficulty becomes greater as we advance. From the farmhouses the route must necessarily be taken on foot to the Cuesta del Cielo, a 1,505 m high peak that is very striking for its pyramidal shape. The climb is steep but the effort is rewarded with wonderful views.\r\n\r\nWe set off on foot along a lane in very poor condition that begins next to the Nerja Camping Site. This lane passes through a pine forest and we abandon it when we see to our left a ruined house in the center of a plain. We then ascend among the olive trees, always leaving a stone wall on the right. This entire area is known as Vi\u00f1as de Maro.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-25e949a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"25e949a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhen we reach the last olive tree, next to a large pine we will see the path to follow that borders and crowns the hill, seeing in the distance the Cortijo de Juan el Molinero located on top of a hill that we will pass. The path first continues along the middle of the hillside and then progressively climbs to the farmhouse from where we can see Nerja, Maro and the Torrox Lighthouse. We cross a pine forest and the path will take us to the final part of the path, which from the Cueva de Nerja goes up to La Civila.\r\n\r\nLa Civila is a group of houses at the foot of a hillside surrounded by prickly pear and almond trees. From here to the Cuesta del Cielo it remains to walk for about two hours. We continue along the path that goes up the slope known as La Cuesta del Cielo. Upon reaching the hill we will see the eastern slope with a magnificent panoramic view of the coast, distinguishing Punta de la Mona and Cerro Gordo that delimit Playa de La Herradura, as well as the fertile R\u00edo de la Miel Valley. Just opposite, the peak called La Cabeza del Caballo stands out.\r\n\r\nA few meters higher next to a dry tree, the path forks and we continue to the left following the mountain rope. Dozens of farmhouses dot this valley in white, reminding us of the traditional human presence that dates back to Roman times and comes renewed to the present day. The upper parts of the mountains maintain natural vegetation.\r\n\r\nWe will continue along the road until we take a lane that leaves on our left near where there is a sign indicating that the road we were following comes to an end.\r\n\r\nIf we are interested in the riparian vegetation, it is possible to continue along the road until reaching a roundabout and continue along a lane that starts from it and leads to the vicinity of the riverbed. We can only go up part of the river since getting to the source itself is quite complicated. There are areas where small waterfalls form and others where the river is narrower and houses more lush vegetation. It is the habitat of the already scarce leprous pond turtle.\r\n\r\nWe can choose to continue on foot for the rest of the route (9 km), leaving the vehicle at the roundabout and going back up the lane indicated previously, which is not in very good condition, but also allows cars to pass. . Here we can see how the vegetation recovers from a recent fire. The second alternative is to continue along the track and when we reach the mountain range we will turn left to access the base of the rock, this time along its eastern face.
